New season, new site, new opportunities

The rosybee plant nursery has been based in Oxfordshire since 2011, we have now moved to a larger site with more options to grow the business and more space to research wildlife ecos-systems. We are in the process of rebuilding the nursery in the beautiful Welsh countryside with views eastwards to England and westwards toward the Black mountains.

The transition and build of rosybee has not been easy, mainly due the rain in late January and early February. Our groundworks team from Ridgeway Contractors have been so positive wading their way through the mud, we have been amazed by their dedication and commitment to our project. Steve, Zak, Tom, Norans and Alan you are awesome.

The groundwork’s team have given us the base foundations and services for our new site. The chaps from Keder have built our propagation greenhouse, however as you can see we are still without our main multi-span polytunnel, the main plant growing space. The contractor who was supposed to build this for us, has let us down. However, in this time of weather and Covid challenges, we have to be stoical and remain positive for what we have. It’s likely we will have another polytunnel contractor coming in the next week or so, but not too sure when we will have a completed growing space. The delay in setting up the polytunnel is a real set-back for us.

To our customers, an apology. We are very sorry but the delays in construction means that we will miss the main part of this season. We are still hopeful to open for business, but most likely not until May.

Despite the late start to this year we will continue to offer quality plants, which as ever will be supported with extensive research. Our new location gives us a fantastic opportunity to expand our pollinator research.

While we are not able to offer plants at the moment all the research findings from our six years of quantification analysis to find the best plants for pollinating insects is always on this website. Also, we have some handy information for gardeners, which may help as you plan for the new year and of course as ever we can provide you with plants for your garden.
