For those of you who have been following our progress we have great news; after nine months of tricky discussions with local landowners we may have finally agreed terms on a plot of land. We wasted 6 months progressing a deal only to have the farmer change his mind about selling. This time, I have looked the guy in the eyes, shaken hands on a price and heard him instruct his solicitor. Fingers crossed this goes through.
The plot is 6 acres, one of which is a long access-way (which has hurt to have to pay the extra for but control of the access is fairly important!), a four acre square field with mature hedging on 3 sides and further acre tucked in at the side which might make an idea site for a house one day. (Yes, dreaming again.)
It has been used as occasional pasture for sheep for the last decade and is fairly overgrown so will take a bit of work to make it usable. (this is my daughter up to her waist in nettles in the access-way) But its a really nice site in a good location.
We have taken the risk of buying it without an option agreement on planning permission. This is slightly risky but its right next door to another nursery so the chances or getting permission for horticultural structures are very high.
So, now I have to get very busy with solicitors, planners etc and get the project back on track.
Wish us well?
